Ensure that you moisturise the areas that are being treated on a daily basis. Dry skin may be more sensitive.
Avoid applying products and make-up on the day of treatment to the areas to be treated.
No waxing, tweezing or electrolysis treatments on areas to be treated. Do not use hair removal cream as it will irritate the skin and therefore make it more sensitive.
Do shave the treatments areas within 24 hours of your SHR appointment. We will not be able to go over areas that have hair above the skin.
Do not take Accutane. If you start a course of antibiotics, you cannot have a laser (SHR) treatment while on the antibiotics and for a week afterwards.
Do not take ibuprofen
If you have suffered in the past with cold sores on the skin or lips, please us prior to your treatment as this viral infection may be re-activated by an SHR treatment. You can take L-lysine daily (available from the chemist or health store) for 2-3 days prior to and after your treatment if necessary.
Avoid sun exposure on the treatment area and always wear a high factor of sun protection cream (SPF 30 minimum)
Stop using sun beds on the treatments areas after and between treatment.
You MUST avoid sun exposure and solarium treatments for at least 14 days after the SHR treatment because the area treated will be more prone to burning and increased pigmentation during this period. Apply a SPF 30+ sunblock frequently and daily for 1-2 weeks after treatment. Rarely there may be some itching of the skin. Avoid scratching the skin.
You can take an antihistamine e.g. Piriton to alleviate this irritation, which should settle after 1-3 days.
No waxing, tweezing, or electrolysis on treated area. Do not use hair removal creams, as they will make the skin more sensitive. You may shave or clip hair.
Keep the area free from deodorants, make-up, aromatherapy oils or perfumed products for 24hrs.
Avoid using any skincare that contains AHA, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid or Retinoic Acid (eg Retin A) for 3-5 days.
No saunas, hot tubs, hot showers and chlorinated swimming pools for 24 hours.
No exercising or working out for a minimum of 12-24 hours.
Do not apply ice directly into skin surface or an ice burn may occur.
Wear loose clothing to avoid frictions on treatment area, such as bikini line, legs, arms, chest, abdomen etc.
You may start to gently exfoliate the skin after 3-5 days to remove the flaky dead skin
It is important to maintain a good skincare routine with frequent hydration or moisturising on a daily basis.
