NHS-Funded Hair Removal Services
Buff & Bare is proud to have been awarded an NHS contract to provide laser and electrolysis hair removal services for eligible patients receiving care through the NHS gender services pathway.
NHS-funded treatment is currently only available to individuals who have been assessed by an NHS Gender Dysphoria Clinic (GDC) and for whom the agreed treatment plan includes hair removal.
If you wish to seek NHS-funded treatment, the first step is to speak to your GP, who can refer you to an NHS Gender Dysphoria Clinic (GDC) for assessment. The clinic will discuss appropriate treatment options with you and develop a plan, which may include hair removal. The treatments recommended will depend on your individual circumstances, goals and clinical assessment.
Eligible patients are then offered a choice of approved providers in their area. Buff & Bare currently operates in St Albans and will open a new salon in Hitchin during Summer 2026. If you choose Buff & Bare, the NHS will arrange your referral to us.
Buff & Bare cannot arrange NHS funding directly. Patients must first be assessed through the NHS gender services pathway. Funding approval, treatment type and treatment duration are determined by the NHS and not by Buff & Bare.
We know that everyone’s journey is unique, and our aim is to make every visit as comfortable, supportive and stress-free as possible. Our experienced team is committed to providing a welcoming, professional and inclusive environment where every client is treated with dignity, respect and understanding.
