Do you provide treatments for transgender and non-binary clients?
Absolutely. Buff & Bare is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people of all gender identities and expressions. Whether you are attending for personal grooming, wellbeing, or as part of your gender-affirming journey, you can expect to be treated with professionalism, respect, and dignity.

How long should my hair be?
The hair should be the length of a rice grain, about 3mm long. However, Lycon hot wax can effectively remove hair as short as 1mm. Leave 3-4 weeks after your last wax or 2-3 weeks if you are a shaver. If you are not a big fan of measuring your body hair and it looks a little long, leave it to us, we will trim the hair if needed. When in doubt, it is always better for the hair to be slightly too long than too short.
How long will it take?
It depends what area you are getting waxed and what wax is being used. Hot wax normally takes longer than strip wax. We only offer hot wax for intimate and sensitive areas. A Brazilian or Hollywood could take 15-30mins. We allocate sufficient time for every appointment to ensure your treatment is carried out comfortably, professionally, and without feeling rushed.

Brazilian is when all the hair from your bikini areas (including inner labia, outer labia, centre of the buttocks) leaving a small amount of hair, shaped to your preference, on the pubic mound. Only hot wax is used for this treatment. Strip wax is used on the buttocks and leg area to tidy up.
Penis and scrotum anatomy

Do I need to take my underwear off for Brazilian and/or Hollywood?
Yes. For Brazilian and Hollywood treatments, underwear will need to be removed so that your practitioner can access the treatment area and achieve the most thorough and accurate result.
Many clients feel a little nervous before their first intimate treatment, which is completely understandable. At Buff & Bare, we provide a welcoming, professional, and judgement-free environment for everyone. Your comfort, privacy, and dignity are important to us, and our experienced practitioners will guide you through the process and ensure you feel at ease throughout your appointment.
What’s the difference between strip and hot wax?
At Buff & Bare, hot wax is primarily used for sensitive areas such as the bikini line, underarms, and face, where the hair tends to be coarser. Hot wax is applied directly to the skin, allowed to cool and set, and then removed without the use of strips.
Many clients find hot wax more comfortable for sensitive areas because it adheres more strongly to the hair than to the skin.
Strip wax is applied in a thin layer and removed using a fabric or paper strip. It is particularly effective for larger areas such as the legs, arms, back, and chest, making it a quick and cost-effective option.
What can’t I do after my waxing treatment?
Following your treatment, your skin may be more sensitive than usual and hair follicles remain open for a short period. To minimise irritation, we recommend:
- Avoid tanning, sunbeds, and prolonged sun exposure for 24 hours.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and swimming pools for 24 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for 24 hours.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing where possible.
- Avoid intimate activity that may cause friction or irritation in treated areas for 24 hours.
Can I wax if I am pregnant?
Absolutely. Many clients continue waxing throughout their pregnancy, including in the weeks leading up to their due date.
Pregnancy can make the skin more sensitive, so it is important that you let your therapist know you are pregnant during your consultation. We will ensure your treatment is adapted to your comfort and carried out with your comfort and wellbeing in mind.
Can I wax on my period?
Absolutely. Some clients find they are slightly more sensitive during their period, but waxing can still be carried out safely.
For intimate treatments, we ask that you wear appropriate menstrual protection, such as a tampon, menstrual cup, or menstrual disc. Please let your therapist know if you need a moment to freshen up before your treatment begins.
I am embarrassed about treatment in intimate areas
Many people feel self-conscious about unwanted hair or discussing intimate areas. You are not alone.
We welcome clients from all walks of life, including those seeking treatment for personal grooming, confidence, medical needs, or gender-affirming care. Our clinic is founded on the principle that every body is welcome, and we strive to provide a supportive, inclusive, and judgement-free experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
Can I bring a friend to stay in the room with me?
You are welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to your appointment. However, to protect the privacy and comfort of all clients, we ask that accompanying guests remain in the reception area during treatment.
How often do I wax?
For best results and the longest period of smooth, hair-free skin, we recommend scheduling your waxing appointments every 4–6 weeks.
What should I expect when I arrive for my treatment?
When you arrive, you may be asked to complete or update a consultation form. Your therapist will discuss any relevant medical information, answer any questions, and explain the treatment process.
Before waxing begins, the treatment area will be cleansed and a small amount of protective oil applied to the skin. Once the hair has been removed, appropriate aftercare products will be applied to help soothe and protect the skin.
Your therapist will also provide aftercare advice to help you achieve the best possible results.
